The Latest Miracle Of Pope Francis
Pope Francis kissed a sick child and her parents say that the tumour has been cured and that it was a true miracle. The long-suffering parents of little Gianna told reporters that their daughter had an inoperable brain tumour. In September, she met the Pope in Philadelphia and, since that fateful day, according to the couple, it seems that the disease is actually regressing.
A modern-day miracle is happening, thanks to the intervention of Pope Francis. At least this is the interpretation that Joey and Kristen Masciantonio believe because of the inexplicable reduction in the size of the malignant tumour that affected their daughter, Gianna. The tumour has almost disappeared only a year after the leader of the Catholic Church gave her a kiss on the forehead in the US last September during his historic visit to PhiladelphiaHer parents, of Warrington, Pennsylvania, had taken part in the World Meeting of Families event where the Pope himself celebrated the closing Mass. Little Gianna had an inoperable brain tumour caused by blood cells attacking the brain stem and was hospitalised for over eight months.
In September, Joey and Kristen, as they told CBS Philadelphia, travelled to Philadelphia to hopefully see Pope Francis. They hoped for a quick glimpse and nothing more. But the touch of the Holy Father will be remembered by the family with gratitude for the rest of their lives. Access to the Holy Father was made possible thanks to a friend of the family, Domenico Giani, the commander of the Vatican Gendarmerie and one of the bodyguards watching over the safety of the Pope.

The poor little baby was diagnosed with the tumour only weeks after birth. After months of agonising waiting, Mum and Dad then heard the doctors say the dreadful words that no parent ever wants to hear: 'There is nothing more we can do for your child; you must take her home with you and make the most of the little time she has left'.In September, Joey and Kristen, as they told CBS Philadelphia, travelled to Philadelphia to hopefully see Pope Francis. Domenico took Gianni in his arms and kissed her as the Pope does, and then presented the little baby to the Holy Father. The child's relieved mother has now told American TV: "Gianna is improving and is becoming stronger with each day that passes. She has started to blow kisses at her many admirers, and to point and name things." The kiss of the pope, therefore, undoubtedly resulted in a miracle, according to Gianna' jubilant parents.Coincidence or a Sign of Divine Intervention
The Masciantonio family have further reasons to believe that Gianna's cure was due to divine intervention. Gianna's older brother is called Domenico; the same name as the family friend who presented Gianna to the Pope. They also believe that St. Gianna may also have had a role to play in the miracle. St Gianna was a modern-day saint who died in the 1960s. Her daughter actually met Gianna in Philadelphia the same weekend. To support the claims of the Masciantonio family, there is magnetic resonance imaging of their daughter's skull: the document, shown during the interview, shows significant tumour shrinkage in the period from August to November 2015.

"Last year we thought she would die. Now we know that we will live with her for many more years to come. I think that everything is from God, I believe that the Pope is a messenger sent by God.' A scan in August clearly shows the tumour, while the November scan shows a tumour that is barely visible. Medical experts have no explanation for the tumour's sudden decline.
